1. Turning the power on
- Slide the "POWER" switch repeatedly to turn the camcorder on.
- The camcorder will toggle through the following functions, as indicated by the lamp that is light up:
i.. PLAY / EDIT (playback of both material on tape / Memory Stick)
ii. MEMORY (record onto the Memory Stick for photos)
iii. TAPE (record onto tape for video)
2. RECORDING
i. VIDEO
- The record buttons are located at two different places:
- 1. On the bottom right of the LCD Screen
2. At the back of the camcorder "REC START / STOP" button
ii. PHOTO
- The PHOTO button is located on the top of the camcorder
- Press and hold the PHOTO button lightly to adjust focus (you'll hear a beep once focus is adjusted), then press it fully to take the picture (you'll hear a shutter sound. Wait until the "III" lines disappear and the recorded photo will appear.)
** You can record still image on a Memory stick even while recording movies on a tape. However, the still image will be fixed to the following resolutions: 1440 x 810 for HDV; 1080 x 810 for 4:3 DV; 1440 810 for 16:9 DV.
3. PLAYBACK
- Slide the "POWER" switch until the PLAY / EDIT lamp lights up
i. VIDEO
- Touch the Play Back button at the screen to activate the transport buttons. They will appear at the bottom of the LCD screen to perform the following functions: STOP; PLAY; PAUSE: REWIND / FAST FORWARD
. ii. PHOTO
- Touch the MEMORY button
- The most recently recorded image is displayed
- Use the buttons at the bottom to toggle through your photos, the buttons functions are as follows:
i. Tape playback
ii. Previous Photo
iii. Next Photo
iv. Index Screen Display
** Note the MEMORY button is only displayed when a memory stick is inserted.
4. Functions for recording
i. ZOOM
- The Zoom button is located at three places
i. on the left side of the LCD Screen
ii. the power zoom level located on the top of the camcorder
iii. the multi function ring at the front of the lens - you need to set the FOCUS / ZOOM (located at the left hand side of the camcorder) switch to ZOOM to activate the ring as the zoom ring
ii. TELE MARO
- Pressing the TELE MACRO button will have the zoom automatically zoom to the most telephoto side and allows for recording the subject(s) at close distance (macro recording).
- Press TELE MACRO again to deactivate this, or simply zoom back out
** If focus seek is too long, adjust focus manually
iii. AUTO LOCK
- When AUTO LOCK is switch to OFF, the following can be set manually:
i. [SPOT METER]
ii. exposure (*see adjusting brightness section)
iii. [PROGRAM AE]
iv. [WHITE BAL.]
v. [SHUTTER SPEED]
**Aside from exposure - all other manual settings will need to be set within the menu system of the camcorder.
iii. Adjusting brightness
- Press the EXPOSURE button (bottom, left side of camcorder) to activate exposure adjustment
- Adjust the brightness by moving the EXPOSURE/VOL lever (beside the EXPOSURE button) up / down
**If the exposure manual adjustment is not activated, the camcorder will automatically be in auto mode.
iv. FOCUS
i. MANUAL FOCUS
- Set the FOCUS/ZOOM switch to MANUAL (picture of hand appears on the bottom right of the screen)
- Rotate the multi function ring at the front of camcorder to adjust focus
- You can use the EXPANDED FOCUS button to help you focus. This function is only activated in MANUAL mode.
ii. AUTO FOCUS
- Set the FOCUS/ZOOM switch to AUTO
iii. SPOT FOCUS
- Set the FOCUS / ZOOM switch to MANUAL
- Activate the SPOT FOCUS function by going into the menu system and pressing on SPOT FOCUS
- Touch the subject on the screen
- Touch [END]
